Response to "Facebook: Why I Hate It..."

Though the author makes many valid points, I can only partly agree with her argument. Though there are many people out there that are obsessed with Facebook there are many people who aren’t. Yes, I agree that for the obsessive people, Facebook is very wastful to their time, but to the people who only check it once a day or less; it can serve as a social tool. It is very helpful in keeping in touch with friends that have moved away or even finding long lost friends you haven’t seen in years. I personally like Facebook to keep in touch with my friends from high school that have gone to different colleges or that aren’t a part of my daily life like they once were. You get to keep updated about how they are doing and new things in their life. It also helps you to meet new people. Going to college can make it very difficult for people to find new friends and be social. Facebook allows you to find people that go to your school and even in your grade so that maybe you can talk to and relate to other students about likes and dislikes about college or anything really. All the useless profile information the author describes might not be so useless when you see that you and someone else might have the same interests.
